Jessica Marks is originally from Deerfield, Illinois and went to Indiana university and studied journalism because she wanted to be a news anchor, but she wore the most wild clothes that Bloomington, Indiana had ever seen. While studying abroad in Italy, Jessica knew that fashion was her passion and after graduation, decided to go to The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, right after her professional designation program in apparel manufacturing. At age 24, Jessica started the jlmarks clothing line and opened the signature jlmarks boutique at the same time, in September of 2004 . Despite a lack of experience working in the field, and a penchant for making spandex pants, her style evolved into what it is today.The majority of Jessica's pieces are dresses and she describes her style as "girlie/glam". All of the fabrics are bright, and most of the dresses are short, but still classy. They are delicate and rock and roll at the same time. jlmarks attracts a very confident, yet fun type of clientele, the LA socialites, who like to go to all of the hotspots and stand out in the crowd. Jessica is so thankful to be following her passion and to meet so many incredible people every day. jlmarks is currently only sold at the signature boutique and a few other specialty stores, so that you can feel confident that everyone won't be wearing the same dress when they go out. In the words of Ms. Marks, "Each dress feels like a baby to me, which makes them hard to even sell at times. I hope to open a few jlmarks stores, but for right now i'm enjoying my little gem on 3rd street!"
