GREAT LISTINGS
You can use either an image or a video to create your product listings.
Title
Title should include the brand name, product name and product type. For example, Poketo Swim T-shirt. If you run out of space, drop the brand name and go with the product name and product type, e.g. Silver Linked Ring. Titles are displayed all over Shopflick including in search and our homepage, so please be as descriptive as possible.
Tagline
This is the text that pops up when you embed your Shopflick video across the web, so it can be watched on your pretty MySpace or Facebook profile.
Descriptions
Most people find products using key (search) words in Shopflick’s search box. You want to make sure that all relevant terms such “gold hoop earrings” “black dress” or “digital camera” are included. Good descriptions include:
- Brand name
- Product name
- Product type
- Style
- Sizes
- Colors
- Measurements
- Where it’s Made
Describe how your item is packaged. Especially for the holiday season, let your buyers know if the item might be a good gift for a sister or friend. Double check for proper spelling and punctuation, this is also a good place to reinforce your return policy.
Tags
Be sure to include tags for all the relevant keywords (search terms) that apply to your item. This is one of the ways shoppers will find your items. Product type, trend, color, brand name, major city you’re located in, etc.
Photographs
Good photographs of your products, from different angles will help increase sales. Here are some tips to help you out:
- Taking the photo. Ensure your images are in-focus, free of background clutter, and well lit. Photograph your item at a close range, at an angle, and using at least two light sources to show more detail.
- Multiple Images/Multi-Dimensional Views. Remember that buyers are not inspecting the item in person, so provide as much detail as possible, particularly if the item is not new in the box or is damaged. Include the tag, label, or box in the image.
- Use Your Own Pictures. Copying pictures (without permission) may be illegal and can lead to suspension.
Video
Your video lets you tell the story behind your product while showing off your product in 3D! Emphasize how it fits, what makes it special, and talk about the creativity behind it. Here’s what goes into a good video(hyperlink to Tara’s vid).
STORE
Video
Your store video gives you a chance to talk about who you are, how you got started, inspirations and what type of merchandise can be found in your store. It’s your opportunity to tell the story behind your style and create a unique connection with buyers.
Return Policy
Buyers are more likely to purchase from sellers who have return policies. Whether you accept returns or not, clearly say so in your listings. List your return policy in both the “Description” and the “Payment & return policy” fields so there’s no confusion.
Explain the value, type and timing of your return policy.
Examples: (what about wear and tear)
- Seven day money back guarantee. Buyer pays for return shipping.
Shipping
Your buyers are very excited to receive your package in the mail, so keep them in the loop!
- Set Buyer Expectations. State shipping policies and reasonable shipping costs up front in your listing so there are no surprises for the buyer. If buyers are happy with their first purchase they will likely buy from you again. Include
- When ships/handling time (ships within 24 hours)
- Where you ship to
- Where you ship from
- Reasonable Shipping Costs. Let’s be fair people, avoid inflating shipping costs and charges this may scare off buyers. Reasonable shipping costs will attract more buyers. Cost plus a small handling fee is reasonable.
- Offer Expedited Shipping. Appeal to buyers who want their items in a hurry; this can be effective around shopping holidays. Include overnight shipping service as one of the shipping options when you create your listings. Domestic buyers will be able to easily search for listings that offer Tracking numbers. Buyers appreciate the ability to track the progress of their package.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Just like in your favorite boutique, online customers appreciate and reward great service. Customer Service is KEY – keep in touch with your customers once they make a purchase
- Let them know you received their order
- Let them know when it has shipped
- Leave feedback as soon as possible.
Add them to your customer list so you can let them know when you have new merchandise and special promotions and can encourage them to buy again.
Encourage your buyers to provide feedback regarding your store/products/ and your service. Use our internal messaging system to ask your buyer to provide feedback for you.
